What is a valid Registration Number?
A valid Registration Number is obtained by registering each jukebox that you operate with MIPI. You will then receive a unique barcode sticker stating your Registration Number which must be affixed to the relevant jukebox.
I own a jukebox that contains karaoke backing tracks. Do I register as a karaoke operator and a jukebox operator?
If you own or operate a jukebox that contains both regular jukebox tracks and karaoke tracks, you should register as both a jukebox operator and karaoke operator under the Codes. You will then receive two Registration Numbers (stickers) for each jukebox – one for the jukebox and one for the karaoke content on that jukebox. Both Registration Numbers should remain affixed to the relevant jukebox at all times.
What happens if I don’t register as a jukebox owner or operator with MIPI?
If you have not received a Registration Number from MIPI for each jukebox that you operate, your jukebox content provider cannot provide you with music.
What happens if my Registration Number isn’t affixed to my jukebox?
MIPI will conduct random venue visits checking that valid Registration Numbers are affixed to all jukeboxes. If a jukebox is not registered with MIPI, appropriate further action may be taken.
